Remote control for door lock thingy..

cr 2025 for the late model remote.

it's pretty hard to screw up.

make sure it's a 2025, a 2032 will be too thick and you'll pop the contacts off the circuit board if you try to install it.

probably sarcastic.

seriously, this is a really easy thing to do.

follow along:

Step 1. Find the seam in the remote

Step 2: Jam something thin in there, like your fingernail.

Step 3: Separate the halves, all the bits fall out.

Step 4:Take battery to hardware store, get replacement, the number will be stamped on the top.

Step 5:
Insert battery in battery holder on circuit board.

Step 6: Put the bits all together so they line up with the notches in the case halves.

Step 7: Snap it back together.

if you can't do that, take it to the dealer.

Mine stopped working years ago. I replaced the battery, no help. I figure its probably a cut or shorted wire in the door harness from taking them on and off so much.

I gave up and use the key.

For clarity, and because it's painful for me to watch the confusion:

a "remote control for door lock thingy" = a fob.

i have a 2000 and my key fob works only within 20 feet, i replaced the batteries with the same ones that were in there (2x 2016) is it possible it had the wrong ones in to begin with? or did some key fobs come with 2016s?

possible. Chrysler seemed to have used a ton of different fobs over the years.

The wife's 01 has a 2025 for sure, and it works across a parking lot.

well so much for the 20 feet, my key fob crapped out on me yesterday

take it apart.

clean the rubber button part with some rubbing alcohol. See if it works.

they are very simple devices. Not a lot to go wrong with the IC or PCB, the most common problems with that sort of thing is nastiness under the button, causing it to not complete the circuit.

I fix TV remotes all the time too.
