When I crank the Jeep and let it idle, the electric fan will kick on for around 10 seconds and then cut off. Does anyone know why this would happen?

Sounds like you have a 97+ and have the AC on.

It's a 98 I6. I had the fan blowing on the hottest possible setting blowing out of the vents pointing at you.

No it was on a setting around either 2 or 3 o clock if that makes sense. Not on one of the settings with the snow flake. A non AC setting basically. I can try it again to make sure if that would help. I get why the ac compressor would kick on and off like that, but why would the fan kick on and off with just the heat running?

Does it still do it if you turn the middle knob all the way to the off position?

at the temp goes up, the fan comes on. as it goes back down the fan goes off.... all vehicles do this. both my XJ and my scion do it all the time when sitting in a long drive through line or heavy traffic.
