Play in Power steering pump shaft ok?

I've got my belt off waiting for my new alternator to come in the mail. Wile poking around I noticed that the power steering pump shaft has a little play in. Is this normal? Everything else like the AC compressor is super tight with no wiggle at all. My 99 has also made a slight whistling sound scene I got it 5 years ago. Just wondered I should replace the PS pump wile I'm under the hood. Thanks!
