Had a good time out there. Note to self: buy better tires....

You did good TonkaYJ. Thanks for doing this while I was working the trail.

We will be at it again this weekend. I'm heading up on Friday and will be working as long as I can. My plan is to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Here is a list of what I need for the work party this weekend.

- excavator
- dozer (if it has a ripper even better)
- backhoe
- equipment operators
- dump trailer
- dump truck
- saw (hand saw)
- safety gear (glasses, gloves) I have hard hats for people. Yes, they will be required.
- Lopers
- Shovel
- Pulaskis
- pick axe
- weed whacker (ribbon fed, not metal blade as the metal blade will spark when it hits the rock in the trail and could be a fire hazzard)
- metal rakes
- Tow Straps
- Chain
- clevis's (small clevis to work with the chains would be great for helping build a net out of to be used to move boulders on to the trail).
- snatch blocks, the more the better.
- Diesel fuel can's (full or not although full would be appreciated )
- Water both for drinking, cleaning, cooking and in the event of a fire.
- Fire extinguishers - per the fire ban which is currently in effect, all vehicles should have 1 gallon of water or a 2.5lbs extinguisher.
- 4x4 vehicles ideally with a winch, a working winch will be needed to help pull boulders, logs and other natural debris onto the sides of the trail to help anchor the trail. This is a great chance to work and run the trail. There has only been one rig on the trail, who will be the second?
- Manual Labor
- Patience
- Good attitude
- A strong work ethic - we will be working both Saturday, Sunday and possibly Monday. Come to one, come to both, there will be work to do.

If you can't make the work party a great way to help out is to donate to our trail fund. This can be done several ways.

Donate online ---> https://www.wepay.com/donations/65556
Donate in person at the trail this weekend.
Donate in person by stopping in at Good Guys Auto Care, ask for Tonka and give him some cash. Good Guys Auto Care is located in the Emmert Development business park off hwy 212/224 in Clackamas. Here is a map to the new shop. http://goo.gl/maps/lwPjG

Thanks again for the interest in helping out. We really need donations for fuel, diesel aint cheap. We also need to find someone with a dozer and a ripper that we can use / borrow for 4-5 hours. One day of using a dozer with a ripper will save us weeks of work using the excavator we have.

Our goal is to have this trail open by Halloween. We wont be able to meet this goal without donations though, both in terms of money as well as equipment, bodies, and sweat. We would love to have this trail open sooner rather than later. One way to get this trail opened sooner, is to donate.

I know some folks have been unable to attend the volunteer trail training. The training is really beneficial to understanding and being able to visualize what we are doing. It's also a lot of fun. That being said, if you haven't been able to make one, we can still put you to work, so don't let that stop you.

For those who have donated, thank you!! This is the first legal class II trail system in the Mount Hood National forest. We could not make this happen with out the donations of many, and we still need help. Donate if you can, spread the word if you can, help in person if you can, do all of the above if you can. This trail will be what we the community make of it, and with your help, I think it will be pretty dang awesome.

Thanks again for the interest in helping. We really do appreciate it!

hahaha, nice! Yep them holes are deep, I think that might actually be one the shallow ones. That area will actually be the "play area" (or the 802 in USFS speak). The entrance will be changed a bit when we get to it, but the holes will stay, and there will be a rock crawl added in as well. Eventually there will be a trail that goes out of the back of that area and connects back to the 800 trail (the one we are working now) and comes into the back side of the future staging area.

Glad you guys had some fun, we hope to see you this weekend!

We continue doing what we do, and right now, thats build trail. We have been hitting it every weekend since we got the green light from the USFS and while the progress has been slow (due to lack of a dozer with rippers), we continue to move this trail forward with the one little but mighty TB035 excavator and a hard core group of seriously dedicated folks. I have been amazed at how the small crew continues to step up to the plate, moving rocks by hand, dragging logs in, wheeling the trail, providing input, and then collectively working to make this trail better. Each and every work party the trail improves... it's awesome to see, and even better to be part of.

Last weekend we worked on the Eastern forest section, improving on the rock obstacles we put in, and adding new ones. We also managed to do some more road to trail conversion. This is the time consuming part, that old road is tough, but it's full of rock. We added in two hot tubs and extended the "trail" section a bit more.

Here's some pics of the progress this weekend.

We hope to be back out at this weekend, but that all depends on the fire restrictions. Right now we can work from 8PM to 1PM (yes, all night long till 1PM), but that could change if they up the IFPL. Fingers crossed they don't, we have trail to build!!

Right now there is an OHV restriction in effect, but once thats lifted, come out and run the trail.

after watching my little TJ and the FJ40 crawl through the obstacles with no chance we put back on our thinking caps and dug it out some more, moved some rock placed some more and beefed up the frame twister section. This is going to be a pretty sick section of trail.

Those Guys Off Road will be hosting a meeting tomorrow night at Round Table to discuss the trail build, the OHV system, and fund raising events. Our meetings are open to the public so come on down. The address is
4141 Northeast 122nd Avenue, Portland, OR

and heres a link to it on Google Map for you folks as well.

We are also back out on the trail this weekend making the epic happen. Come out and lend a hand, meet the crew, enjoy the show and run the trail. Things to bring this weekend....

Gloves
Boots
Shovel
Metal rake
Extinguisher or 1 gallon of water (not to mention water to drink, its hot and dusty on the trail)
Straps
Snatch blocks
Your rig with a winch
patience
a sense of humor
a little more patience
a smile

We'll be out there all weekend starting Friday morning, so come up when you can, hang out while you can, and help us build some trail for all of us to enjoy!

Sad but true side note.... there is a fire ban in effect. If your thinking of camping, bring some extra clothes, it gets a bit chilly now at night, and no fires are currently allowed in the forest. Better to put on a sweatshirt, than burn down our new OHV trail.
