I am about to embark on a few adventures with my two sons over the next 7 weeks.
We are starting tomorrow in Mammoth/Bridgeport/Western Sierras area through Monday. We will be doing the normal hiking/fishing/bear scouting. Anything unusual we should do or see?(not the normal devils postpile stuff)

Between destinations, I will need to get a few days of work in to pay for gas.....

Then off again to the high deserts and big bear for gold prospecting/precious stone hunting.

Back up to the Eastern Sierras for more hiking, fishing, scouting (Sequoia National Forest, Kings Canyon)

Work another week, and back up to the Western Sierras again. Fishing the Miracle Mile, and surrounding areas.

We love to find the little things, like the Cottonwood Charcoal Kilns, and the Manzanar Relocation Center is an interested way to spend 2 hours.

Any Sierra Nevada Mountain Experts? Guide us!!!

My favorite 395 stops, in no particular order..

Fossil falls, mostly cool if you like climbing rocks with your hands.
Bodie Ghost Town, touristy, but take the mill tour, its cool.
Aurorra and other smaller ghost towns behind bodie, good luck finding them without a guide.
Green creek Rd., comes off 395 to the west VERY close to where bodie road is. Follow it up about 6-8 miles and there is awesome campsites right on the creek, free. Bring your bear gun.
The museum in bridgeport is cool if you're into that kind of stuff. http://www.monocomuseum.org/
LAWS railroad museum is fun too. Lots of old railroad cars and related stuff. http://lawsmuseum.org/
Dont forget Schats bakery in bishop, world famous! LOL http://www.erickschatsbakery.com/

x2 on Schat's bakery.

Alabama Hills, Mono Lake tufu, hot springs (although probably not as fun in the middle of the summer), Crowley Lake and South Lake for fishing, Tioga Pass Mobil Mart for breakfast (best gas station food ever) to name a few. There are also a lot of trailheads and camp grounds at decent elevations if you're looking to get some altitude. Horsehoe Meadows is at ~10,000'.

On the westside check out Mineral King Canyon.

Lots of cool roads to explore around Virginia Lakes. One takes you up over 10,000' and you look down into the Green Creek drainage. Hit up the Whoa Nellie Deli just before Lee Vining for some killer food. I'll send you some mine sites back channel.

Don't miss the gourmet meals and spectacular views of Mono Lake at the Lee Vining Mobile station. :D

Just stopped through there last Friday.

I was going to suggest Bodie and the surrounding areas but John beat me to it. Defenetly worth checking out, but like he mentioned... Good luck finding them without a tour guide!

Beginning Saturday, I'm in Bishop Creek at Creekside Rv Park, will be fishing South Lake, Lake Sabrina and North Lake. Might do some hunting too. Pm me if you are in the area before I leave. we have a few families with kids here.

Just returned from Lake Sabrina and Bishop Creek yesterday. Good swimming area (deep) at the far end of the lake South of the inlet. Limited out on stock rainbows within an hour on a Panther Martin in Bishop Creek right near the camp site.

Thanks everyone. We are going to convict, hot springs, and rock creek tomorrow. Friday fishing Crowley, Saturday Bridgeport and the miracle mile.
Today was epic at Lee vining.
