Bolt size ?

Finishing up my engine swap and can't find the right bolt. It's a 94 4.0 .
P.S. pump on the very top, Bolt goes front to back thru metal bracket into threaded hole in silver colored cast mount, PS pump pivots on it.
Tried every bolt in my spare bolt cans(metric and SAE) and couldn't find one to fit. No camera so no pictures. Sorry!
Anyone know the size/thread before I drill and tap.

I tried an 8x1.25 and a 5/16x18. Both would grab threads and screw in by hand but had wiggle room like they were taped oversize. 10 and 3/8 were to big.
New to me bracket and the threads looked good. Weird !! Now it's a 10x1.50.
Thanks for the input.

Could be. I was thinking maybe it had spent some time with a loose bolt and the PS pump vibes caused it to enlarge the hole.
Just one little thing after another slowing this install down.

Mine was strip out a bit to, I ended up putting a nut on the backside of a longer bolt. the problem with that is that the nut turns , but I can jam a flat head screw driver in between the flats on the nut and the bracket to lock it up enough to tighten.
