Welding an 8.25 29 spline

I've searched but just looking for a little more feedback. What's your experience with it? Any tips? My XJ is on 35's and it only sees the road when it's driven to and from the trail and the occasional trip to the store, work, etc.
 
Bad decision on a c-clip axle, especially on one borderline for 35s. Good luck getting them out to change a shaft when you break one.

x2. also once it's welded up any driving you do on the street is going to eat up the life left in your tires.

Explain? Aslong as you don't weld the c clip or cross shaft your fine also alloys can be had for less then 100 a side
