1990 axles

90 you got a 50/50 shot still of having a vacuum disco axle i think, and rear would most likely be a d35 or a 8.25. not sure if they still slapped the d44 in there post renix.

If it has the NP242, it should have the non-disco front. My 90 did. I don't think the 8.25 started until 1991 so it 's probably a Dana 35 rear if stock.

If it has a Full-time 4hi, that should be the 242.

242 has 2wd, 4wd Part time, 4wd Full Time, and 4lo.
231 has 2wd, 4hi, and 4lo (no full time)
Good luck

if it has the 242, it will NOT be a disco axle. and if it has ABS, it will have the larger 297x series u-joints.

My '92 and '96 are 8.25, both open. My son's '95 has LSD d35. His '96 had LSD d35, now it's open 8.25, but it doesn't vibe like the 35. Looking through the bone yard through the years, didn't d44s mostly come with the finned-drum 10" brakes, mostly on better models? Usually wood grain or a factory hitch are indicators to look underneath.
