Stock perches

So I'm swapping in a rear XJ 44 in the back of my Cherokee and not liking how small the stock perches are. They are an inch smaller than the 8.25" perches. Has anyone had problems with axle wrap with them? I would like to do UBE's but want to just go cheap and get new U-bolts and run it because I'm spending on other things.
