So my 4wd isnt engaging. I'm not to sure why. The drive shaft is spinning but it's not going to the wheels? Does anyone know why or what I can do to fix it?

it's probably the vaccum disconnect. search, there's plenty of info on it.
 
year? what tcase? does your front axle have a big ass flying saucer looking thing with vacuum hose ports on it over by the passenger side upper control arm mount?
 
pretty sure it will have that. 91 has a disconnect axle, unless that was a bastard year or something. My 91 with a 231 most definitely has it.
 
my old 90 didnt have the disco axle....

just fyi the drive shaft always spins on a cherokee. we dont have locking hubs. the locking part in a cherocar is in the transfer case!
 
i just assumed he had it in drive up on jack stands. the driveshaft would only spin that way if the tcase was working properly.
