Will a slip yoke eliminator from a renix 231 bolt on to a 96 231? If not what can I do to make it work if anything? Really hate to buy another.

Full shaft, or Hack n Tap style? If HnT, yes, and you won't need the flange/seal. Full shaft, if you are using with a 21-spl trans, yes also.

About the only difference betwween the the earlier 231's and the later 231's (as far as an SYE goes) is the use of a needle bearing inside the main gearset that was not used in later models (they use a gear on shaft (oil bearing) arrangement).
All you are changing is the output mainshaft and the output housing so pretty much any SYE kit will work for you. HnT would be the most universal, the full monty kits amy require a bearing to be pressed out of the gearset.
