Roof rails swap (early-to-late model XJs)

I wasn't sure if this should go in Modified or OEM...

Will the roof rails from a late-model ('97-01) XJ mount up to a pre-'96 model? My daughter has a '93 2-door, and I'm not sure if a '99 4-door donor would have rails that bolted on or not. I can try this myself - I just haven't gotten to the point of trying yet. The late-model ones are a nicer design.

at some point they started making them shorter i think... 97+? im not sure though, i have been wanting to do this on my 92, mine has a bolt to slide the roof cross bars... annoying.

It wont fit unless you drill holes in your roof. Holes are in different locations.

FYI (for anyone who finds this thread via a search)...

I did confirm last night that the late-model (in my case, a 1999) XJ cross bars do fit on early (1993) roof rails.
