Off hand, any body know the axle ratio used on an 86 XJ with v6 and automatic transmission?

pull the cover. or get a dealer to run your BOM. the "spin tire and watch drive shaft" method never works for me. BOM isnt always accurate, as there are some cases of dealer specials that have been regeared for what ever reason.

I think those got 3.55s but not really sure. Put it in neutral, lift one tire, spin the driveshaft til the wheel has turned twice. Number of driveshaft revs is your ratio. Most of the inaccuracies in the normal counting method come from brakes dragging and making the wheels on each side turn different amounts.
