just replaced my ball joints in my 01 yesterday. there is an obvious difference in the depth of the tapers for the ball joints from the drivers side knuckle to the passengers.
both my old ball joints and my new ball joints installed the same way..
it seems the drivers side tapers have been machined "deeper" into the knuckle, resulting in many more ball joint threads being exposed on the drivers side under the castle nuts once the joints are torqued up.so much so that the cotter pin needs to be bent upwards for it to have any engagement with the castle nut. passenger side "looks" good.
not much i can do about it, but i was currious if this is common with jeep knuckles?
