Oil filter elbow removal

I have a 96 xj. The factory oil filter bracket is a 90° bend that faces straight rearwards. My question is can that bracket be replaced with something like the older renix models have where the oil filter points straight up? Or could one be added that changes the direction of the filter but also adds a oil cooler plate? I searched but couldn't find anything conclusive. Thanks guys.

Yes, it can. Change the nipple from your old OFA to the Renix one so you can keep the same late model oil filter.
