Stall then high idle

So my buddy was up in Walker valley and he stopped to help some guy was that was stuck and thought his rig was in nuetral (96 ax-15, h.o4.0) and it was in gear so it stalled when he let out the clutch.Now his rig Idles @1,500 rpm whenever he puts the clutch in ? Wierd stuff he said the rpm's function right when in gear they will drop and rise just fine but as soon as he puts the clutch in they rise to 1,500 any help would be great ...

Not an expert, but look for vacuum leaks. Something may have come loose when the engine stalled under load.

Loose vacuum line or the TPS has gone bad, or the IAC idle control valve is stuck or bad. IF it is constant 1500, hot, cold, day, night, weekends....LOL, then it sounds like a vacuum line came loose.

IAC and TPS are the throttle body.

X3 on vacuum or TPS/IAC. There are a lot of write ups on this forum about testing each of these systems and components. Good luck to you guys! Don't hesitate to post some Qs if u can't find what ur lookin fer.

It was the IAC I did a little reading and found out you can adjust it in and out so I told my Friend and he adjusted it and fixed the issue.
