Custom Fabrication 4x4 rear bumper tire carrier

my XJ has a custom fabrication 4x4 rear bumper with a tire carrier on it i like using it but the issue is that my license plate is blocked by it so i have temporarily zip tied the license plate around the bar of the tire carrier where the hinge is. obviously this isn't the best fix but it is working or now. anyone have any other ways i can mount the license plate and still use the tire carrier i was thinking of picking up the plastic inserts and screws from auto zone and putting it off set on the tailgate but i really dont want to drill holes into my body work and with it offset it looks kinda stupid so i am open to any suggestions

I mounted my license plate using a trailer license plate bracket & light. I also added a 2" red round light right in the center of the tire mount so that it comes through the hub of the rim (read: center high mount stop lamp.) The whole thing is wired up to a 4 wire trailer plug.

If you look at the pic in the link you can see one way to mount the plate. They use some 1/2 in strap and bolt it to the factory mount and then run it out toward the dirver side light. It has a bend in it to step it away from gate.

stick the plate in the rim and zip tie it...



once i got my moabs, i moved the plate to the passenger side of the tire carrier. and this happened...



dont do that... there really isnt enough room to mount it above the carrier using the bottom bolt holes on your plate though, itll interfere with your hatch. vice grips can bend it and add clearance though.
