CS-130 alternator! To resist or not?

Just picked up a practically brand new looking CS-130 alternator (105 amp) out of a junkyard today since my stock one decided to stop working. I have read what seems like a million pages and can't get a definitive answer on this. Do you need to add a resistor to the "L" wire or not and if you do what size do you need? As far as I understand you only use the "S" and "L" wires and omit everything else. I am not running this through an idiot light on my dash or if it is easier that way do I have a light for that?

1986 Jeep Cherokee
2.8l V6
Stock dash but no gauges work except speedo and fuel
I have aftermarket gauges for water temp and oil pressure

**Edit**

I picked up a 1/2 watt 475 ohm resistor according to a couple of websites. Will this work? Painless says there wire has a 3 watt 85 ohm resistor built in.
