Heat Shield for Front Diff Vent Hose

My vent hose and the heat shield are worn through thanks to the front driveshaft u-joint. I have 4' of 5/16 hose as a replacement. The heat shield is pretty crappy.

2001 Cherokee Sport w/135k miles.

Any alternative to buying an OEM heat shield?

How about exhaust header wrap? Material in the OEM heat shield looks the same.

The DE Heat shield worked perfectly and is the same size as the OEM part.

Well, just replaced the vent hose for a second time. The hose dropped and the u-joint rubbed against the heat shield and hose. This time I tie-wrapped the hose to the upper and lower control arms leaving slack. My previous method apparently didn't work (tied to about six different places).

Got parts from Autozone. Four feet of 5/16ths fuel hose ($6.50) and a COOL IT/Thermo Tech EXPRESS SLEEVE heat shield (part no. 14030 - $26.99). It has velcro and wraps around the hose perfectly. It's 3 feet in length so plenty of shielding.
