speedometer fluctuation

The Speedometer just started fluctuating when I get above 20 MPH on my 97 xj (Automatic) 135k miles. Before I just drop $130 on a new VSS does anybody have any other ideas or things I should check? All the other guages are working fine. Appreciate any help here.:huh:

Unplug the wires from the speedo sender on the T-Case. Clean out any water/corrosion and apply some dielectric grease.
