There is a carrier break for the axle but it does not concern us.
That is, unless you are planning to run some 2.47: gears... Then a new carrier would be required.
For those looking for a cheap Dana 35 replacement, be advised that in '05, the ring gear bolts went metric.

I was asking because I got a deal on a set of gears and wanted to make sure they would go in my 29 spline, not upgrading the 8.25
