Year? Earlier model XJ equipped with the NP 231 transfer case had a disconnect axle.

is it an automatic or manual? if manual are you sure its not in neutral? front or rear drive shaft?

Sorry Fellas,
I thought that I had blew my front diff when I was out wheeling but all that it was, was the vent line that lead to my transfercase was disconnected. So when I put it in 4x4 is sounding like the drive shaft was free spinning..Reconnected it and everything is fine..Sorry for the bad etiquite.
