Dana 44 Regear / Carrier Question

My rig is a 2WD 1991 Comanche MJ. It has an 88 rear MJ D44 under it using the original TrakLoc lower ratio carrier and a 4.11 ratio "thick" R&P gear set. I want to regear to a 3.73 R&P ratio. The carrier cutoff I believe is 3.73. What I'm asking is do I need the "thick" gearset or the standard thickness gears to use with the numerically lower TrakLoc carrier (originally with 3.55 gears)? Thanks for your help.

The carrier break on your axle is 3.92 and up, so you'll need the 3.73 and down carrier.

You say you have thick gears. In that case, you have the correct carrier for the 3.73 gears.

Great - I do have the 3.73 and down carrier, so I'll need the standard (non-thick) 3.73 R&P. Thanks guys, just wanted to be sure. :worship:
