Rocker/Slider Question

I'm in the process of armoring my jeep, and I've seen tons of threads regarding rocker replacement.
This seems like the solid, budget minded thing to do, especially with clearance in mind so maybe they'll last that much longer compared to jcr/rustys/ajs which hang lower

So my question: all of the rocker replacements that I've seen have come about because of rusted out rockers, I lucked out and got a generally rustfree NE XJ, would it still be a good idea to cut out my rockers to replace them with 2x6?

yes. if you wheel it, those non rusty rockers will not last. mine was the same way, rust free... and it got beat. the rockers are the easy part, cut it up and replace it, now, if you smash up your doors, youll be more POed.

wheeled with them for the first time yesterday. even open/open.... youll have SO much more fun not worrying about crunching your rockers. cost me about $100 worth of metal, and a spool of flux core. a few cutting wheels, a few grinding wheels, flap disk, some primer, and some bed liner... you can build something for under $200 that is going to be much stronger than anything simply bolted to the frame rail. not knocking any products out there of course.

fin.

I did too

Then I smashed my rustfree rocker into my door so I couldnt open it (n)

Rausch was not nice to my unprotected rockers. I do somewhat regret it, but it was fun.
