steering

Teraflex sells a cool high steer setup, and if you are willing to change bolt patterns, Reid Racing has some D30 knuckles that give you true high steer and bigger brakes.

So you kinda want someone to go through the trouble of designing a product for limited production/usage, manufacture it, market it, insure it for product liability, and then sell it cheap.

Cheap is doing it yourself, except that doing it yourself isn't always cheap. If you can find a competent welder to help you out, I can tell you how to make a very good D30 steering setup for as cheap as you could do it.

Order 1.25" .288 wall tubing from Poly Performance. Tap it R and L hand for 3/4" rod ends, it's already 11/16" ID so doesn't need to be drilled. Get right and left hand 3/4 x 3/4 rod ends with 5/8" misalignment spacers, and right and left hand 3/4 x 5/8 rod ends with 5/8" safety washers. Drill the knuckles and the pitman arm to 5/8". Mount the tie rod with the 3/4 x 5/8 rod ends with safety washers on top of the knuckle. Mount the drag link with the 3/4 x 3/4 rod ends with the 5/8" misalignment spacers to the pitman arm and on top of the other rod end on the passenger knuckle, so stacking the rod ends on the pass knuckle. Cut a strap of 1/4" plate and make a piece with a 5/8" hole to mount on top of the stacked rod ends going to the knuckle to double sheer that mount. Here's where getting a good welder comes in. Weld the strap to the knuckle, then make triangle shaped gussets to box in the bracket and weld them on. Get grade 8 bolts and bolt it up.

You'll get OTK crossover steering with plenty of available travel in the drag link and very strong links without having to buy anyone's expensive kit. Have fun. :)

X2 on what Goatman said about doing it yourself not always being cheap. Even after shopping around for all the parts and pieces, DOM and a great fabricator aka JeeperJohn to help put it all together.. It's still ran me $300-$400.
