Swapping rods on boosters

I got my 1988 booster apart and pulled the pushrod out of it but never could figure out how to separate the two halves of my 1996 or 1999 booster.

Any special tricks?

On a related note - is it a lot of work to swap the brake pedal assembly from a later model into an earlier model?

I know the brake switch will have to be rewired, but is it plug and play otherwise?

It is extremely easy to swap the brake pedal. Undo bolt, remove pedal, put other pedal in, good to go.

Why are you trying to remove the pushrods? If you're doing a dual diaphragm booster swap, you don't need to do that.

Well, I was going to swap the pushrods then NOT swap the pedal assy.

Then I thought it may be easier to NOT swap the pushrods, but swap the pedal assy.
