ARB side shims D44

I am talking about the shims on the opposite side of the ring gear.

Is it possible to use stock type shims instead of the side shims because this is what happened.


Also had the cross shaft retaining screw break... Glad i caught it before it did.

This is on a XJ dana 44.

Would like to know this information so i don't have to get another shim kit from ARB and have the same thing happen.

same thing happened to my 33 spline ox locker in my old 44. gearset got chewed up within 8 months

my fix was a dana 60

Use a case spreader and make the carrier preload tight enough so the carrier doesn't walk all over the place.

Agreed, preload wasn't correct and those shims don't look like any ARB shims I've ever seen.

I might have some ARB shim kits in the shop. I'll let ya know later today.

FYI,
While you've got it apart put a fresh set of O-Rings in the air collar.
