Hey guys just won an ebay auction and bought one of these for $55 (shipped)

Warn 77495 - Warn Air-Power SPC Air Compressor

heres a link to the specs
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WRN-77495/

Anyway for that price i figured id pull the trigger before i asked ..

Anyway any thoughts? (i usually dont buy before the research)

i was hoping to mount and wire it in permanently as o.b.a. For my arb Lockers and to fill my 31's and hopefully my 33's later (both 10.50/r15).

And an air nozzle to help dust out the air vents ( or whatever else)..

It wouldve been cool to run a cutting wheel or some other tools maybe but i dont think its strong enough for that..

Ill have to look up some threads and learn what i need and how to add an extra tank.. post up any links if you feel generous and ill be searching

Also will have to figure out how to hook em up to the arbs (im buying used axles w them in there) theyre coming with the switches and air lines but no compressor (not shure if im getting wire harness)

So heres the specs for the click lazy

The SPC has air flow ratings of 1.5 CFM @ 0 PSI and 1.0 CFM @ 90 PSI,

150 PSI maximum pressure rating,

and will fill a 5 gallon tank in 5 minutes.

The SPC also features a thermal protection device to prevent the motor from overheating, and it comes with 25' of coiled nylon air hose and a dual air chuck.

I cant seem to find duty cycle on this but i did look at a pdf. of the manual and it said not to run it more than 10 mins constant..

so does that mean i run 10 mins cool for 10min.....
then run 10 more as needed??

Anybody know how long somethings wiith those ratings would take to fill a 31 10.50 or a 33 10.50

ill post that stuff up when i figure it out if no one does

ill probably add a tank any cheap suggestions?

That's a pretty low CFM rating, it would take a while. And you would have to let it cool frequently.

Yea thats kinda what im learning from the research, i didnt know much about compressors so its been fun. (allways good to learn new stuff)

im going to ask warn about the cool down time ..

I think maybe ill get it and test how long it takes with my 31's (ill post)
and i may end up selling the compressor if im not happy with it ..
If i install it ill probably never replace it ..

Guess its time to research a resonably priced/reasonable quality setup..
Any reccomendations on a brand

i suppose ill check out viar.
or onboardair.com
(just because ive heard of 'em)

SO i just got off the phone with Warn c.s.
(which are great b.t.w. they helped me with my 8274 rebuild)

And they said that the few seconds between filling tires would be considered a break in the cycle and therefore extend my use before overheating..

And that i would be fine filling my 33's (when i get them) but if i wanted a long life that "filling the 3 jeeps behind Me's tires all in a row would shorten life due to heat" (or kill it)

as far as how long it takes ill post that up when i get the compressor and test it.

and also that most of the heat is generated by not enough electricity flow so that Removing the alligator clamps and doing a good solid hard wired in connection would improve run time..

They also mentioned that if i added a tank (ill probably run one even if i don't use this compressor).. that if i could find out the volume of my tire (i guess measured in pounds) that i could get that size tank and after tank is full could fill without the compressor kicking on (or only briefly)..

now to figure out the volume of a 31/10.50 r15 and a 33/10.50 r15 to figure out how big of a tank to get. bfg all terrain

I have two inexpensive cigarette plug compressors that I use to inflate my 31's after a run.

I usually go down to around 20psi and ride at 33 or so on the road.

Usually by the time I'm done removing the rubber straps from my not so quick disconnects, and getting them reconnected I've got the tires up to pressure.

After talking with warn i think I'm going to give it its chance .

i can always replace it later and ill only need the compressor then because ill have everything else set up..

anythings gotta be better than what Ive been using (nothing) the park i usually go to has a shop one they let us use,, so it'll really be for when I'm wheeling elsewhere.
Ive had to not air down because we were at different ORV parks..

this one must have a pressure regulator (i think it has a small built in tank?) because the guy at warn mentioned their aux. tank and plumbing kit to go with it,

I bet i could use this dual tank setup off of this dewalt compressor thats broken on craigslist.. it looks like it already has tank Gage and a pressure regulator with guage (to throttle down for the ARB's)
http://stlouis.craigslist.org/tls/2609988907.html

I wonder if it has a drain valve (yep i checked)
or a pressure relief valve (yep i checked)
or a check valve ( yep i checked)

So is the check valve for where the compressor hooks into the tank ?
as i understand it its just a one way valve
(i suppose to keep pressure from pushing back into compressor from tank?)

it is only a 4 gallon tank but seems like it couldnt hurt and for the price itll save me some on parts (unfortunately i gotta do this budget style)

i suppose i could drill it out to add an extra hookup for the air hose
(dint know what the parts are called)..
and just leave the arbs hooked to the regulated output already on there ..

Then if I'm unhappy with the compressor i could just swap in a more powerful one into the existing setup..

Before you go spending $130 on a compressor, why don't you try the Tsunami MF-1050 for about half of that? The MF-1050 puts out more air than the Warn unit.

Here's a link: http://www.gearinstalls.com/pepboys.htm

The MV50 is the same compressor as the MF-1050.

This is the manufacturer's website: http://www.masterflowair.com/products.php

Here's a really good comparison between many compressors: http://www.parksoffroad.com/prodreview/inflatortest/inflatormain.htm

I think you and rcphx missed the first post where it says im getting it for $55 (shipped) wich is why i bought it without doing the research .. so being as i won the auction this one is bought.

Great recomendation though and Had i of done the research first i wouldve went with the pep boys for my first one..

the way i see it though with the warn name on it if i hate it too much i could sell it pretty easily for $50 on craigslist and get my $ back out of it .

either way ill post up my tire filling results from before and after the aux. tank

If i do decide it isnt enough i would wait untill i could get something more high end that could maybe run tools and fill tires quickly.. wich would jump me past the pep boys one.

any recomendations on higher performance models anyone? price is nice as there is no need to be wasteful but higher end performance would be the focus for if i replace it..

(the reason im going cheapish now is i just spent all my $ on built axles and i need air for the lockers so why not tires too)

if all your using it for are tires, (and maybe lockers?) I think it will do just fine.
add a tank 2.5+gal that way you can turn it on before you get to the end of a trail, let it run while the engine, radio, etc is going (help drown it out) and by the time your done you can air up a tire or two with what's in the tank and be waiting a bit longer for the last few.

$55 shipped, good to go.
