Fuses

I know this a noob question.. Well if i have a fuse that keeps blowing(I know i have a short somewere) I tried putting in a 30 fuse(it was a 25)Worked for a bit but blew again. Not good with wires really. So what would happen if I just put a really big fuse in so it wont blow? Its the fuse for my dash and inside lights.

Thanks an advanced.

Nothing to bad.Just burn up your wiring and maybe the jeep it's self. You need to find the short before you do more damage.Do you have a hitch with wiring in the back? That could be where the problem is.

what year XJ?

For the '93: Interior lighting (courtesy lights, dome lights) is a 10 amp fuse in slot #9
Instrument panel gauges is 7.5 amp fuse in slot #17
Instrument panel lighting is a 5 amp fuse in slot #19

So if there is a 25 amp fuse in the #9 slot, it would appear that someone before you has already attempted to fix a short situation with a larger fuse.

Some background information about what led up to the short(s) might help.
