THIS IS NOT FOR MY XJ... that thing still runs... lol

my buddy's 1997 XJ 4.0 is doing something weird...

the fuel pressure is fine at first... then randomly it will drop to around 18psi and barely run... shortly after is recovers...

he has installed 2 new pumps and cleaned out the tank...

he has also hot wired the pump to the battery...

and it still does it...

Did he install 2 new PUMPS, or 2 new ASSEMBLIES? The assembly consists of the pump, regulator, filter all in one.

And what brand pump did he install? Stay away from Airtex like the plague; IMHO they have a big time reliability issue. I use BOSCH pumps; best in the business

This. I went thru 5 or 6 new airtex assemblies in a year and a half. Same symtoms and such everytime. I've had better luck with a swapped in used factory unit after I gave up on the airtex.

Folks, Airtex is offered by many parts stores as a "low price point" option.

Buying a fuel pump assembly on price only is a bad, bad strategy.

Stay away from Airtex.
