I have an old set of RC 3" coils... back when they used to be Black... well they are just fine and not sagging at all... but I have a chance to get a set of new 4.5" RC coils for next to nothing... and a buyer for my 3" coils...

I guess my question is, What good are the new RC coils over the old ones?

any reason to run a 4.5" coil instead of a 3" coil and a spacer?

I'd use the 4.5" coils, it will give you a more linear spring rate as compared to a shorter spring.

Its much better to run a 4.5 inch coil rather then a 3 inch coil plus a spacer. The longer coil allows it to travel farther before unseating itself, after its unseated there is no weight on it making that side useless.

If its a good price go for it, I would also get some longer shocks to pick up some more down travel. How long are your bump stops?
