front D30 year variances

i have an 89 renix with a hp 30. (renix) i found a hp 30 in an 86 4 banger xj that has the 4.10s in it. mine has 3.55. are they the same axle? i know the renix era was 87-90. not sure about the earlier stuff. the 86 hp 30 has cv boot shafts not the knuckle type like mine. i just want to make sure it will work before i buy it.

There were variations over the years with the D30:
-Vacuum disconnect and non disco housings
-Different brakes and unit hubs
-Different size u-joints and some 84-86 had CV joints

The axle housings and almost all internal parts are interchangeable.

If all your looking for is gears,Id pass on that axle.

thanks. i was thinking the same thing. the xj has 210,000 miles on it and the shafts were shot. im just going to re gear my front 30.
