So I have a set of lebaron hood vents ready to go in, but then my friend from work brought in a hood scoop thing from a charger 2.2 tho it assent ment to be functional I was thinking to just cut the back out and a hole in the hood and be good.

So do you think a Cowell type bulge would not do as good as a vent ing hot air out wile off road?

More of a cowel i guess than scoop, and its actually quite large, tho I decided not to go with it since it has a slight bow down the center so it fit the hood on the charger, and i would not be able to get it so sit flush.

So i bought the glh vent insted notice the direction of the slats vs a lebaron ill get some more pictures up tomorow.

i just went with a 5in cowl scoop. it looks great and lets a lot of heat out. plus it was only 109 bucks after shipping.
i cut out every spot that i could. i left the bracing under the hood and cut around it.
works great!

you have 2 choices.
1.sell the vent to someone who has been really wanting vents(not always easy to find) and use the cowl.
2.use the vent and sell the cowl to someone with a charger.

maybe post 2 pics with each one sitting on the hood.

Where did you find that cowl? A quick google search didnt find what i was looking for.

How does the hood open with that big cowl...
its 40"longX5"tall
an xj hood is 32"long. i was a little worried about this but the cowl has an over hang that makes it 40" the flange itself is about 31"or so. with the cowl being 5" tall it allows it to open more than if it were say a 3" tall cowl.

Have you seen a noticable dip in engine temps?

Another question... Can you still open the hood all the way?

EDIT: I see that was already answered, disregard.

right now i have bad rings and a few other issues causing it to get hot fast.... but even with those issues, i HAVE noticed a pretty big difference. before it got hot no matter what on the roads. now it just gets hot when i try to stay at 55 or 60 mph going up hill. at night it stays at 195. summer heat and the high rpms still get it hot. but i have other issues causing that. once i get my motor swap done it will stay cool no matter what!
I like my cowl hood personally but if I didn't get it for 250 painted I probabley wouldn't have bought it.

i love the cowls that are built in.
but same as you, 109$ shipped i couldnt pass up the cowl scoop.

Man, i wish i had my jeep together enough to put that kind of money in to the hood.

Kroink, i love the fender guard deal you have going on, i just may have to copy that if you dont mind.
