Front Brake Calipers

I have a 2001XJ, AW4, I-6, 4WD and I was looking to replace my front calipers. I recently changed my pads and found that the phenolic plastic pistons had cracked. I wondered if I replaced the calipers can I replace them with calipers that have steel pistons? I could just replace the pistons themselves but I couldn't find the plastic pistons for sale and its probably less hassle to change the whole caliper.

I don't know what's available, but I've never had any real problem with the phenolic pistons, and given the tendency of steel ones to rust, I'd be inclined to stick with them. I don't know how yours got cracked, but if it was bad work by a previous mechanic, you should be all right if you take proper care when you replace pads.
