Ok I am looking into a zone 4.5" lift. I am trying to go as cheep as I can and still road legal in wa. State. So for this lift kit can I just get a sye kit and be done or do I need other parts. This is my first lift kit install. I am just trying to get enough lift for my 4.3l swap this winter. Wish I could do a bastard pack.
meh, The stuff in that kit is not that great, and why cant you do a bastrard pack lift? and what do you mean enough lift for your 4.3 swap? Also the sye requires a new driveshaft if you were not aware.
A 4.3 liter swap has nothing to do with lift... If that is why you are lifting the truck stay at stock height. If you really want to lift the truck buy Ironman 4x4 or Iron Rock adjustable short arms and Rough Country or RE (now that they are open again) Coils. For the rear go RC/RE or a Bastard Pack (Don't go AAL)... shocks Bilstein unless you need cheap... Rough Country is as good as anyone for cheap hydraulics.
-a set of used s10/s15, or (s10)blazer/jimmy leaf springs... and some hardware to make a bastard pack (either that or get a 2.5-3.5" AAL, assuming your springs are in perfect shape) around $60 (no more than $125 including spring clamps, ubolts, center bolts )
-chevy 1500 front brake lines, mids 90s? rear Dakota brake lines
around $35-$45 total new
Well I can do a pack but to be legall in wa state the lift has to be made and sold by a manufacture. I will see if I can get away with it though. Thanks for the help.

Well a sye is ultimately better but you can get by with a t case drop, I like it becasue you will be running the same type of shaft or the exact shaft, (front from an auto) so you can carry one spare for front or rear or swap the front to the rear to make it home if you were to break a rear.
What yr XJ? 96+ you'll probably have to go SYE. I'd prefer an SYE anyways. Why lift it just to lose ground clearance? Not to mention it can put extra stress on the tranny mounts and motor mounts. If you drop one end, the other has to go up.
