can I drive with no front driveshaft hooked up

ok I know this is stupid but Im needing help. my right front u joint is clunking and really looks bad. if i disconnect the front drive shaft, will it keep the joint from turning until i can get it replaced. im not sure of the technical name for the joint sorry. john jr

Yes, you can drive without a front driveshaft. No, pulling the driveshaft will not keep the front axle u-joints from spinning so it won't solve your problem.

It won't keep that joint from turning, if you've got stock front hubs.
