in-out play in rear end?

I need to replace my right rear bearing, but Im also noticing about 1/8 inch
in-out slop on both sides. How much is normal, and what should I be looking for in terms of worn parts to cause that play? (Chrysler rear)

The axle shafts will move in/out slightly. That's normal. The axles slide into the dfi housing, and C-clips are installed on the inner axle ends to hold them in place. The dif. center pin prevents the axle shafts from moving in far enough for the c-clips to fall out.
