tranny cooler

van island

NAXJA Forum User
Hi, I am installing a high efficiency tranny cooler , can I bypass the rad cooler altogether ( outside temp does not get colder than - 5'C ) and its not my DD. This way tranny will run cooler, not being heated by eng' coolant and eng' will run cooler on hot days also . Thanks Eric

The AW4 has an optimal operating temperature, but it should build heat enough on it's own. As long as you aren't running an oversized cooler with a fan on it running full time, you should be fine bypassing the stock cooler.

If you are planning on running a cooler with a fan on it my suggestion would be to run a trans temperature gauge and have your fan on a manual switch so you only turn it on when you need it.

welcome to the forum :D
