Rear brake question

I did rear brakes on the XJ a month back. Parking break felt nice and tight...didn't travel up as far when I set it as it used to...as expected. All of a sudden last night I pulled my parking brake and it went all the way up...now it's doing that everytime. Does that potentially mean it's going to need adjustment? I just want to know what I maybe looking at before I pull my drum.

Before you pull the drums, look underneath and see if the cable hasn't stretched or frayed. Possibly near the hole at the back of the handle. These beasts are getting old, and under all the JEEP-iness, they are still Detroit (or Toledo) iron.

It could've stretched that's for sure...I just put a 3 inch lift on and it started happening right after that
