Won't stop running?

I have been searching but can't hit the right words in my search.

88 MJ with a 4.6 stroker - all sensors/external stuff is stock 4.0 stuff.

I have had it sitting for a while and charged the battery up and got it to run. Went to shut it down and does not stop? Can pull the key out and it still runs.

I had to pull the coil wire to get it to shut off. Where is the best place to start to look, I think it might be loose connection maybe?

Look at the ignition switch that is bolted to the column under the dash. If it has melted, like many I have seen, it may have a short. And when you bring the key back to shut it off it stays in the bad spot.

I had this problem!
stumped me for months!

check ASD relay. (auto shut down)
(under hood. location is documented on fuse cover)
give it a light whack when she wont shutdown.

check ignition (see other jeepers comment above)

After all my searching, i found a big nut caught behind fuse panel above the clutch/brake area. The short caused by the nut was able to power the ignition (on random occasions).

Need to add some info:
Is the battery draining itself? Any other symptoms?
wire up ignition to "always on"? total guess.

Well I replaced the electric ignition switch, still stays running.

I don't think Renix has an ASD?

I will try the B+ latch relay and see what that does.
