97 OHC FYI!

I recently installed an OHC in my 98. Knowing that Jeep just had to play silly buggers with connectors, I waited until I saw one on Ebay listed as having been removed from a 98.

Well, it wasn't from a 98... Turns out it was from a 97. So what you ask is different than the connector under the kickpanel PDC?

There is a gray wire in the 97 harness that is not in the 98. It is for the SKIM system that apparently was only offered in 97.

So, those installing a 97 OHC in a later vehicle can just ignore this wire, trim it back into the harness and tape it off.

I think this may depend on your XJ's options. My '99 has the SKIM.

uh...the SKIM wasn't an option on the XJ until 99......so unless some other system was offered I've never heard of, that wire is for something else.

At any rate....

If you are installing an OHC and do not have the gray wire in your connector, don't sweat it!

this makes a lot more sense, once I figured OHC didn't stand for Over Head Cam.......:roll:

Me, too. I was excited to see who developed an OHC head for the 4.0!!!!!
