Stock pins are 5/16, and the ones I've gotten are cut-to-length.
Some aftermarket (like RE) are 3/8 pins.

I drilled my MJ springs to 7/16".
Use a carbide tipped masonry bit. Works really well.

I broke 3 sets of centering pins.. got sick of them breaking bough grade 8 1/2 in bolts rounded the heads. Not only do they fit nicer in the hole they are strong as hell.. haven't broken one yet!

Make sure your u-bolt are tight and not streched out. That is usually the main cause.

One thing about using the larger pins, if I remember right I also had to drill out the perch hole when I went to the 3/8 pin.
