I want to use a 1998 aw4 flexplate in a 1992. Ive seen some part numbers interchange form 1992-2001,but found others with more specific years.

I want to know if the CPS windows are the same. Anybody have some definitive info on this?

There was some change from the OBD I to OBD II years but it was incremental improvements, and if you try to buy a 91-95 flexplate at the dealer you will end up with a 96-01 one as the new one superceded the old one. Toss the 98 flex plate in, it'll be fine.

When I replaced my 91 with a 99 the flexplate had the same part number just AA on the end for the new numbering style

Anyways the engines are internally balanced so the only difference would be for things like diameter and crank sensor tooth pattern, which you can compare with visual inspection
