half doors

I have a 97 xj and i got some doors off a 94 xj i want to cut these and use them as half doors. will i have to change the door latch to a 97 or newer or can i make the old latch work with the 97 striker?

Hinges are different too.

Not really worth it.

the hinges are the same i have pre 97 hinges on my 97 who knows why.

Yes hinges are the same but the latch is where you are going to run into problems. Your going to need to find newer doors. The old style hinges still bolt up to the new style doors.

I know that the latch is different i was wanting to know if anyone has been successful in using the old latch on a 97 and up

i did this on my 93 2 door with some doors off a 99. the only difference between the doors as far as fitment goes is the striker.

the older style doors use a post type striker while the 97+ doors use a "u" shaped double latch style striker. i had a write up on here a bit ago about it with pictures of the striker and such
