Split ring on D30?

Ive been reading around for awhile and cant find for sure what im looking for. My 96XJ has a D30, for the ball joint replacement, is there a split ring that I need to install? Someone had a 93 with one and an 87, then another post said that it doesn't have 1....

Just trying to clarify and plan for the ball joint project. The OTC adapter kit is on the list too

Just did the ball joints on my 96 yesterday--- there is NO split ring,upper and lower joint just press out and in.
Actually used two hammers to drive the lower joint out--used smaller ball-peen on the top of the joint and a 5# sledge to hit it in the center--Dont mushroom the sides..
Also support the axle so when you hit -it- the axle doesnt just move away.

No split ring on a 96.
