CB in dash vent?

Has anyone installed a CB in the lower dash vent on a 96- model XJ? I really want to put my cobra 29 in here, but dunno what is behind the vent. I cutout a piece of cardboard the same size as the cobra and it only looks like a tiny bit has to be removed off the dash front cover to fit the radio. I just need to know whats behind there.

this might help you not sure exactly which vent your talking about but if its the vent under the stereo deck my buddy has his cb there. vent doesnt work anymore though obviously.

If your just looking for a clean mounted CB radio then you might look at another Cobra model that is designed to be discreet and clean when mounted. All the controls are on the mic so you can mount the base pretty much anywhere.

thats a 97 + dash and im plannin on doing the same thing in my 96 ill post when i do but to my knowledge there should be enough room behind the vent to mount a small cb the only hard part would be running your wires and sealing your vent back up
