Question about vacuum reservoir

So a few weeks ago when I was putting some lights on my 2000 XJ, I removed the front bumper. I noticed the egg shaped thing underneath and noticed it was disconnected. I have no idea how long it has been but it has not affected the way my Jeep runs. Long story short, my heater has been only mainly blowing out of the defrost vents, ac doesn't really work and my cruise control has been acting weird. After searching, it seems like this reservoir is the cause of all these problems. My question is, tomorrow when I attempt to re-connect it, do I need to do anything else? Also, would it do any damage by having this unconnected for so long? Thank you. -James

Only thing it affects is vent doors and cruise..

Re-locate it to the engine compartment...eliminate about 3-4 feet of leak prone vac hose.
