99 4.0 High Oil Pressure

I have a 99 4.0 and it is giving me really high oil pressure readings. It pegs out at 80 @ 3000 rpm. Any ideas what it could be?

Your oil pressure sender is probably bad... 30-50 bucks at the parts store plus 15 minutes with a wrench and it'll be back to normal.

I'd recommend you spring for an extra $20 and buy it directly from Jeep. Best sensor as far as reliability/accuracy/mating with your factory gauge.

$61 from the dealer.

Worth the money.

Plenty of threads on this and other XJ forums of people that have had mixed (poor) luck with the aftermarket oil pressure sending unit.

Don't cheap out on the sender; my parts store sender (BWD?) acts like it's on its way out already. It's not even a year old. Should have just ordered one.

out of curiosity, what type/weight oil are you running?
