upper control arm bushings

on a 96 xj with dana 30 has anyone ever changed the UC bushings and noticed that it has like little dimples on the inside of the metal sleeve? they are on the brand new ones for the axle and on the bushings that go to the "frame" on the actual control arm. the problem is i cant find a bolt that will fit snuggly in it. this problem occurred when we trashed the original uppers when the dumb bolts with the tabs snapped at the axle. so we bought new bushings and pressed them in but we cant seem to find bolts to fit correctly.

sorry for the rambling but need some help

Thats the way the bushings come, the factory bolts are 10mm.

Stock XJ UCA bushings have the dimples inside a rolled sleeve to step down to 10mm. Stock ZJ UCA bushings have a rolled sleeve with the 10mm inside diameter. Stock WJ UCA bushings have a regular soli sleeve with the 10mm inside diameter. Another cheapy option is to drill out the dimples on the stock XJ ones and control arms to use 12mm or 1/2" hardware.

I don't recommend trying to drill these out. The dimples are hardened and will eat drill bits...better yet, use a grinding tool and go at it slow. Only 3 dimples per side of the sleeve. You can buy 7/16" grinding stone for a rotary tool and use 7/16" bolt. Worked like a charm. ($45 in ruined drill bits later!)
