Thermostat help

I own a 1999 Cherokee sport and noticed recently that the heater does not seem to be working as efficiently as it use to. It seems to blow mildly warm air and doesn't seem to get as hot as it did once.

I suspect the thermostat is stuck open.
Does anyone know what the correct thermostat is for this vehicle? 195 deg.?

Should I put a lower degree thermostat in there? leave well enough alone?

I searched the forums and didnt see any info on this so dont flame me for not looking... I did. Just didnt find what I was looking for.
Thanks!

195 degree, I only install and only recommend the Stant SuperStat Premium.

Putting a colder thermostat in would only aggravate your problem.

What temp is the gauge hitting? Should be 200-210.

As Joe mentions, if the coolant temp is showing 200-210 on the dash solidly, the problem isn't the thermostat.

Primary suspects are a partially clogged heater core and a blend door issue.

Feel both heater hoses both should be very warn to the touch with the engine warm. If not you may have low coolant level, air in the system, or a cogged heater core,or a combination of the above.
If none of the above is true the blend door would be it.
